Adenosine TriphosphateAdenosine triphosphate, also known as ATP, is a biological molecule and chemical compound (nucleotide) that carries energy to all cells in the body. It provides the energy for secretion of gastric juice after you consume a meal, for muscular contractions, for cognitive processes, photosynthesis, the synthesis of proteins, etc.
It is the only energy molecule that is directly serviceable and because of this, it is thought of as the ‘battery’ of the human body. Adenosine triphosphate carries chemical energy to other parts of the body, where it is needed. The ATP molecule is made up of adenine, a ribose and a phosphate chain.
