EctomorphEctomorph is a body type, also known as a somatype. There are three somatypes – endomorph, mesomorph, and ectomorph – characterized by differences in digestive, nervous and muscular tissues.
This ‘body type theory’ was formed by American psychologist William Sheldon in the 1940’s. The ectomorph body type is characterized by a delicate, lean, fragile body that is lightly muscled and thin. Ectomorph’s usually have a short upper body with long legs and arms. They have a hard time gaining weight and muscle.
