Omega-6 Fatty AcidsOmega-6 fatty acids are essential fatty acids (EFAs) from the family of polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are not made by the body and are only obtained through food consumption.
The typical American diet is quite high in Omega-6 fatty acids, sometimes exceeding over 10 times the amount needed, though they are also sold in dietary supplements. Omega-6 fatty acids are found in nuts, whole grain breads, eggs, poultry, cereals and most vegetable oils, such as corn, sunflower, hemp, walnut, pumpkin, safflower and soybean oils.
While Omega-6 fatty acids are healthy, too much can result in obesity.
