Catecholamines?Catecholamines are hormones produced by the adrenal glands, brain and nerve tissues released into the blood during emotional or physical stress, fright or the ‘fight or flight’ response.
The neurotransmitters Dopamine, epinephrine (adrenalin) and norepinephrine are three of the major catecholamines. They increase heart rate, breathing rate, muscle strength, mental alertness and blood pressure, while increasing the blood to major organs, such as the kidneys, heart and brain.
