PeptidesA peptide is a strand of two or more amino acids linked together by peptide bonds. Peptides are relatively short, under 40 amino acids, and can act as hormones and neurotransmitters.
Peptides are the building blocks of proteins, meaning that peptides are short and proteins are much longer chains of amino acids. Peptides are anywhere from 2 to 50 amino acids long and proteins are anything over 50 amino acids.
The three main classes of peptides are Digested Peptides, Non-ribosomal Peptides and Ribosomal Peptides.
