HypothalamusThey hypothalamus is a major regulator of the autonomic nervous system and the processes of metabolism. This almond sized gland links the endocrine and nervous systems through the pituitary gland.
The hypothalamus controls many bodily functions, from emotions, motor functions and the sleep/wake cycle, to body temperature, fatigue, thirst and hunger. The hypothalamus is a vital part of the brain that synthesizes and secretes hypothalamic releasing hormones that either inhibit or stimulate the emission of pituitary hormones.
