ChemotherapyChemotherapy is a cancer treatment that involves chemical drugs that are either injected into a vein or body cavity or delivered in pill form to kill cancerous cells in the body and stop them from growing. Over half of all cancer patients receive some form of chemotherapy to help manage their disease and allow them to live healthy lives.
Unfortunately, chemotherapy chemical agents sometimes do not know the difference between fast growing cancer cells and fast growing healthy cells, such as blood cells and cells in charge of hair growth. This causes side effects, such as hair loss, nausea, fatigue and low white and red blood cell counts.
Chemotherapy, depending upon the patient, may either cure cancer, control cancer or relieve cancer symptoms, allowing the cancer patient to live more comfortably.
